When my kids were little, we had a variety of kids’ story Bibles on hand. We read from them every night at bedtime. We used them for early readers in our homeschool. I loved that the kids looked forward to reading the next story. I loved that I was planting seeds of God’s Word in their hearts with fun stories and pictures that spoke their language. Even today, as I read through my own Bible, I can recall some of stories from the kids’ story Bibles.
Three of my favorite Kids Story Bibles
My kids were HUGE fans of Veggie Tales. When Emma was little, the boys {then tweens} would still sit down and watch the videos with her. So, we had a Veggie Tales Bible Storybook on hands, as well. I loved reading from this story Bible, and comparing the story to the video. We could all “hear” the characters speak as we read the stories aloud.
This is, by far, my favorite story Bible. Each of my kids had their own copy of The Beginner’s Bible. We read these until they were falling apart. I have them all saved in a box in my basement to bring out when they have kids of their own. This version is a timeless classic in our house!
This isn’t one we owned, but we did check it out at the library. When we were studying a certain story from the Bible – Daniel and the Lion’s Den, for instance – I would check several versions out at the library just for a little variety. The illustrations in A Child’s First Bible are precious.
