I am always looking for ways to make learning more fun. I recently discovered a brand new (to me) academic game to review. BrainBox games are engaging and challenging for kids 8+. Each round can be completed in just ten minutes making this a great way to sneak in a little learning without being trapped in an hour long game. Monopoly anyone?
I received four of their games to review. We received Inventions, Math, Science & Nature, and Art. We enjoyed them so much that I plan to purchase The World to use with Emma this year as we study Ancient History and World Geography.
BrainBox 10-Minute Brain Challenges
About BrainBox
BrainBox is a great game that can be played at home or on the go. Each of the four games we received contains more than 50 cards, a rules card, a timer, and a die. Each card is beautifully illustrated.
How to Play BrainBox
To play a BrainBox game, each player has 10 seconds to study a card before being asked a question from the back. The observer rolls the die and answers the question (from the back of the card) that corresponds with the number on the die. If the player answers the question correctly, they keep the card. If not, they return the card to the box. The player with the most cards after 10 minutes wins the game.
My Thoughts
We really enjoy these games. We like that there is no set-up necessary to play the game. The rules are easy to follow meaning we can get right to the game.
I like that BrainBox games can be played with a group or individually. And, I like that there is no skill necessary. Nor do players have to have any prior knowledge about a subject in order to enjoy the game. The game is solely based on observation and memory – not fact recall.
Disclaimer: I did receive these games to review, but I was not required to post a review on my blog. All opinions are my own. We just loved these games so much that I wanted to share them you!
