A new month is upon us! After a pretty crummy month of July – one full of medical issues and broken down cars – I’m ready to celebrate a brand new month. A fresh start! I’m going to have fun looking for ways to celebrate anything and everything during the month of August.
Want to join me? Let’s go!
August is…
- Family Fun Month – Check out this free Family Fun Night Bucket List for some ideas.
- Peach Month – Make a super easy Peach Cobbler for dessert.
- National Picnic Month
Celebrate something new this month…
August 1 is National Raspberry Cream Pie Day! Try making one yourself.
August 2 is Friendship Day. What will you do with your friends today? It’s also National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. These are easy to make at home, and adding candy and/or sprinkles to the ice cream sides make them even more yummy! And, it’s National Sister’s Day. Hopefully, your sister is also your friend so you can celebrate the day together!
August 3 is National Watermelon Day! Eat some yummy watermelon. Have a seed spitting contest. Help your little ones make some watermelon playdough.
August 4 is U. S. Coast Guard Day.
August 5 is Work Like a Dog Day. Read a book about real dogs who work.
August 9 is Book Lover’s Day! Now, that’s a holiday I like to celebrate all year long. Snuggle up with your favorite little ones and read a great book or two or three!
August 10 is Lazy Day! Here’s a holiday I wish I could celebrate more often. But, busy mommas don’t get many lazy days, do they? I hope you get to have a lazy day at your house! We’ll be starting school on the 10th. If you don’t get to celebrate Lazy Day, maybe you can celebrate National S’mores Day!! If it’s too hot to make s’mores outside, make oven s’mores. They’re quick and easy and don’t require a fire.
August 11 is Son and Daughter Day. Love on your littles today!
August 12 is Middle Child’s Day. Make this day a special one for the middle child in your family!
August 13 is Left Hander’s Day. We don’t have a left-hander in my house. Do you?
August 14 is National Creamsicle Day. With a few simple ingredients, you can make some Creamsicles at home. Yum!
August 16 is National Tell a Joke Day. Good jokes. Bad jokes. It doesn’t matter. Make someone laugh today. Need help? Check out one of these joke books.
August 19 is Aviation Day. This is a great day to learn about Amelia Earhart. Here’s a free printable your kids may enjoy.
August 20 is National Radio Day. Your kids might enjoy making an FM radio. What a great learning experience that would be!
August 22 is National Tooth Fairy Day. Here’s a fun learning printable your little ones will enjoy. This holiday can also be celebrated on February 28. Guess the Tooth Fairy is so special she needs two days!
August 26 is National Dog Day. Take your puppies for a walk. Play fetch in the backyard. Celebrate with this fun Dog Facts Color and Copywork set.
August 27 is Just Because Day! Celebrate the fact that you woke up this morning. Celebrate the color of your hair or the color of your eyes. Just celebrate! Just because!
August 28 is Race Your Mouse Day. Don’t have any mice you can race? Try these!
August 30 is Frankenstein Day. Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich seems like a great book to read today. You might even enjoy making some Frankenstein marshmallow pops. Today is also Toasted Marshmallow Day. Years ago, when my son had a backyard campout for his birthday, I made these yummy s’mores cupcakes with toasted marshmallow icing. Yummo!
August 31 is National Trail Mix Day. Here’s a list of 15 yummy trail mix recipes that are easy to make at home.
Christina Dale says
August 17th is Thrift Shop Day & the 25th is Kiss and Make up Day 🙂
I also have the 30th as Toasted Marshmallow day– but after S’mores day I must be all
Marshmallowed out. Thanks for sharing your list, it was a great read!
